17 Today

Today Jakob celebrated his 17th birthday! It seems a little unreal to know that our eldest is now 17 years old. He did comment that he hasn't had a birthday at home now for 3 years. His 15th he celebrated on young mens camp, his 16th was at a youth dance and now his 17th in Queensland.
So today was his choice of what he would like to do, and because we are a little theme parked out and needed a break from the heat, we spent the day doing some retail therapy.
The kids had saved up money for our trip and were eager to be able to finally spend it. And also the younger three had never been to a large shopping centre before. I went shopping with the little girls and Katie-Lynne was in her element. Every jewelry, gift and nicknack shop we had to visit, while Lilly found what she wanted and bought Jakob a present and she was done. She would then sit on the floor in the shops while Katie-Lynne and I browsed.

After our shopping spree we had present time for Jakob. As you can see from the photo Katie-Lynne decided that Jakob needed a huge lollipop.

He also received some mind puzzles and a liquid timer and some clothes so he's ready for his first year at college.

For tea we had Chinese, then went for a swim in the pool. As it gets dark here at 7pm it was really fun swimming in the pool which has underwater lights and also we could watch the fruit bats fly overhead and look at the stars.
Now just to finish with I will add 10 things I love about Jakob.
1. His trustworthiness
2. His good example
3. His sense of humor
4. His helpful nature
5. His natural ability to learn
6. His thirst for knowledge in all areas
7. His good looks!
8. His love for our family - he's always looking out for us
9. The way he teaches me
10. That he was our first baby, and he survived!

Happy birthday to one wonderful son!!!
