Had a neat experience too. We were riding together to Lunch just
before the lesson, and went to cross a really busy road. It had a pedestrian
crossing, and the man went green, so I rode out, crossed two lanes fine, about
to cross the third when somehow or in someway I cannot recall, my brakes
slammed on, almost flipping me over, and a car skidded past me a hairsbreadth
away. I either have the reaction time of spider-man, or received a bit of divine
help.
The two Elders behind me were flabbergasted. One said that he'd really
prayed for our safety before we left, as he and the other Elder were riding
foreign bikes, but it looks like I was the one who needed that blessing despite
riding my own bike. I was a bit shaky afterwards, but the feast we had at the
Chinese restaurant afterwards cured that.
I can't remember if I've said it, but we've started
attending a free Japanese class every Wednesday night, turns out we're allowed
to do that. We've already got lots of interested people from it, mostly in our
Free English class, but the lady that was meant to be teaching me Japanese
grilled me the whole evening on our Church and missionary rules, I guess I got
some good Japanese practice in from that...... Everyone
else in the class is like Chinese and Indonesian or something, so having two
English speaking white people is very exciting for them. I enjoy Wednesday
evenings.... The Japanese saints are so strong, despite having a culture so
different to Church teachings. I am grateful for them.
It started raining after Church, and didn't let up until
about 10 am this morning. Apparently there was a typhoon over night, all we saw
were the results of it, lots of signs fallen over, and the streets were
deserted when we went shopping this morning....
....Ping Pong is great. Played some Friday night, the old guy
who we play with had invited some other old members along from another ward, he
was like 'Elder Rowlings is unbeatable' and I was for some of the night, but
these people are pretty good...
