A Cubby Corner

We have one of those corners in the yard that tends to be a junk corner and not really used. Over the years the kids have played there and hid there and referred to it as their 'cubby' but we never really did much with it.
Katie and Lilly love to be outdoors and have played in the 'cubby' on occasion, so recently I thought we should actually do something with it. So after removing allot of the junk and cleaning the area we have begun.... Everyone has helped a little, and although there is still a few things we need to at least we have started.
The girls decided that for the entrance they needed something to disguise it, so this was their solution... I don't know if you would call it a disguise but they loved stringing up the shells and having to walk through them to enter the cubby. Lilly did string up a football as well, but somehow that just didn't work as well as the shells:)
The side of the shed that is one wall of the cubby needed a fix, so after a wash and some blackboard paint to a few of the panels there is now a big outdoor blackboard. Apparently the girls have informed me that it is for secret messages.
With the rest of the panels the girls and Henry found some of their old stencils and with the help of some sticky tape and spray paint made a few improvements and have begun to make the corner their own.
Aneika made a bench in one of her classes at high school and it has sat around and had different homes around the house. It now has a new home after a coat of paint, some spray paint and some colour. The kids had a great time decorating it up and deciding what to paint.

Another of Aneika's creations was this pencil box. So after some more spray paint it has become the girls treasure box in the cubby.
Lilly brought home some broad bean seeds from school and decided we needed to plant them. Maybe we should call them 'Bill' and 'Ben' when they begin to grow!
I am trying to convince Katie that we need to plant some flowers in there. But at the moment she has this thing about bees, and with a lavender plant a few metres away from from the cubby and the occasional bee visitor I think it may be a while before that may occur. So after a bit of remodeling and a few more things to do, our little project is slowly taking shape.
I did find this creature lurking around as well and he does think that the cubby is a good place to hang out with the kids.
