The downstairs pantry

I am not sure Tammy's brief entry does the pantry justice. Jakob and I spent a good part of the day getting the shelving in. As you can see from the finished picture the shelving looks quite sturdy. The shelves are MDF (medium density fibreboard) - 20mm thick and are very heavy - I would estimate they weigh well over 30Kg each. I was especially grateful that Jakob stuck around to help. Whilst I can lift these board by myself, manoeuvring them is something else, especially the top shelf. I am sure that would have made for a humorous photo with Jakob and I lifting the top shelf tier by tier - resting them on the supports on the way up.

On a related note - it may seem odd to those of you not familiar with the LDS Church when it comes to food storage. The Church encourages us to store a years supply of basic foods that would sustain the family in times of scarcity, unemployment or disaster etc (see the Church's site on it titled "Provident Living" for more details). This council really speaks for itself when you see this type of activity assist families across the globe. We all need to eat to live! Here are some photos of the shelves on the other side with our family striving to live this council. We are not quite their yet but we are working at it!

A personal thank you to Andrew Spilling for his ability to help a friend - very much appreciated!
