The field is nice, I'm in one of 4 cities in my mission, so if this is a
city I don't know what the "provinces" are going to be like. It feels
good being out of MTC, I was a bit nervous the first couple of days, but
now everything is going well,... My testimony on Sunday I was pretty
nervous about, I spent an hour writing it down in Tagalog, and told of my experience with the planes to get to MTC. Then got my companion to look
over it, and make sure the grammar, and words were right, then it only
went for 3ish minutes. The language is kind of hard, especially because
the locals normally talk Bicolano, but they all know Tagalog, and some
English words.
To get here I traveled by plane, and then a van to the
area. my companion is great, he comes from the Bisayas, and he didn't speak
Tagalog until he was in the field, but his English is pretty good......
There are McDonalds
in Philippines, I don't know if there is any in my area, but they have a Filipino version called Jolibee, if there is a KFC, or McDonalds,
there will be a Jolibee really close to it.
The field is great. It mostly consists of sweating, getting on
Tricycles to get to our many areas, sweating, then teaching a lesson
while sweating, then looking for other investigators.... in the area. I
do what the Filipinos do and carry around a handkerchief dedicated to
sweat. My area is covered in rice fields and stuff, and pretty much all
the trees are coconut trees. The picture is what I took, on the first
full day in the field out in Tastas. but all of my areas look similar to
that. So Ligao, my area by translation from Tagalog to English means
"lost"
Leaving the MTC was pretty sad,....
My apartment is alright, "come come ye saints, no toilet paper
here". But i filled my carry on with Toilet paper from the MTC, so i
should be set for 6 or so months, so long as im sparing, and shower at
the right time.\
yeah, but my flats pretty good, next to ours is two other
missionaries, both Filipino.....
We got taught about culture so I know how to fit in, except for being
white. All of the kids stare at me. We have to take vitamins and stuff
everyday. .....We've had 2 new investigators since I've been out here, both of
which I've invited to baptism, and they said yes. That gives us 12 with baptismal dates.....
I'm also in charge of the phone, being junior companion, and have no
idea what the texts say because most are in Tagalog, so i just pass it
to my companion
| chilling in the other Elders flat....might be going splits tomorrow with this guy |
