My week has been pretty good. I am not sure of what
specifics to write (never am), but:
My Kanji reading and writing ability is increasing quite a
bit. I hadn't really put effort into studying it throughout my mission, but we
have had maybe 3 hour long classes with it and it is coming along nicely. Kanji
is pretty cool.
Today we went to Kyoto city for a bit of a shop and look
around. There is a certain shop at one of the temples in kyoto city that
missionaries go to all the time, to get rings made. I decided to get one today.
Most missionaries usually get 'makoto no deshi' (True Disciple), which was the
mission theme for the last 3 or 6 years, but that was changed recently. I
decided to go all out and get 'Shu ni seinaru mono' which is, at least in the
scriptures 'Holiness to the Lord'.....
Our investigator H. has been coming along nicely. There
actually is a lot of help out here in Japan for those quitting smoking. We
bought a whole bunch of nice flavoured pipes to replace his smokes, a..... he really appreciated it, and they are helping him out. Need to locate
some nicotine patches and stuff ..... although that
is easier said than done here.
A lot of other things have gone pretty well. We made pretty
good friends with the Switzerland girl, and through her have found two new
investigators. ..... It is nice, but
kind of weird teaching in English!
At our Japanese class we had a whole bunch of people approach
us about our English class. Some of our flyers started going around, and now
hopefully a lot of new students this Wednesday!.....
I am really glad UYC went well. Sounds like Nathan and Henry
had good experiences. I hope everyone was the same!
How many new missionaries are we going to get in the next
year or so? I hope a lot more! ..... I am glad to have taken a part too!
To answer questions:
1. I have to write the mission president every week. If I do
not, he gets worried and I get called up or something.....
