Missionary Moments

Dried out... well, for a couple of days. Then we had heavy rain on and off the last couple of days, as well as lighter stuff during the week. It just is not safe to go outside without an umbrella and rain coat right now. Everytime I get my shoes dry they just get wet again. I think I prefer it over hot weather.. but still.
Missionary work wasn't hugely productive this week, we didn't find anyone new, but we did get a few places visited. Probably averaged 40km a day on the bikes again.

We had an exchange on Wednesday, it went pretty well. I worked with the district leader here in Ootsu area and (my companion) went over to Omihachiman, the district leaders area. He helped me to deep clean the aparment even more and get it organised, and then we went out to try and find LA and new people. Didn't find any, but I was able to observe some  of the extremely skilled missionary habits he has. I respect him a lot for that. He is Brazilan and didn't even speak English much at all before coming out here, now he is 13th transfer and fluent in both English and Japanese, as well as his native Portuguese. He seems to really understand what he's doing to.

On Sunday we spent most of the day at the Church, first for the 3 hour block, then for a ward meal, then a lesson, then a Baptism meeting, and then cleaning.

We had this one Brazilian investigator (he speaks Japanese too) who surprisingly came along for the meal and baptism meeting, there were two brazilians being baptised that the District leader had been teaching. The meeting was in both portuguese and Japanese.....

On Saturday night we went to the Japanese class. As expected we were the only gaijin from a white country there, but we were still able to make friends with some of the teaches, and advertise our Eikaiwa a little too. I also helped translate Japanese into English for some of the Filipinos that were there. Aside from not knowing a lot of words, I feel like my understanding of Japanese in general is almost fluent. My speaking just needs to catch up some. It's fine enough, but could still be improved a lot. Maybe in another 8 months it will get there?
