Missionary Moments

This week Elder Rowlings write....

So (my new companion) is from North Carolina, family of 6, and fairly well off.....   but he is learning fast, and I am impressed with how much is able to handle, especially with the issues he had this week. That would have upset me a lot. Didn't bother him too much.
Christmas in Japan is mostly a commercial affair, we see a lot of house decorations, and I've started asking people about them, asked one lady if she'd like to learn the meaning of Christmas, so far only had very firm no's, assuring me it is not at all religious for them, the Japanese don't really know much about it besides Santa Clause and lots of pretty lights and wreaths. It is nice that they have the decorations and stuff though, it reminds me that it is Christmas. It's been getting colder every day, might get snow while I'm here, just a bit, but that would be cool.
...... we don't really have enough room in the apartment itself for all our clothes, or the clothes 'line', so it's shift work when it comes to washing, dishes too, there is always clothes hanging out, or dishes in the sink.
It's actually been pretty fun, despite very cramped quarters. I got sick for one day, which was just my occasionally unexplained 12 hour cold, but thankfully no one caught anything. I've made good friends with all the Elders here, it's really quite fun....
This is 3 zones from Kobe area. Elder Rowlings is at the back.
