This week Jakob wrote....
... transfers was a stressful time. As we were being white
washed, had to prepare everything for 4 new missionaries coming in to Habikino,
..... The people we do service for that come to Eikaiwa presented me with a gift in
front of the English class and gave a speech they had prepared in English
thanking us. I got a book mark, weaved and dyed from cotton and plants we had
grown, it was pretty cool. Also got given stuff so I can try to make my own,
not sure if I will ever have time for it though!
...There were some people I was close to tears about
when I said my final goodbye,...
My new companion is an Elder from North Carolina ..... he is still 18 years old .... I've had to help him learn how to ride a bike among
other things, .... I get along with him
well. It feels odd being the absolute boss already, but I am slowly
getting used to it.
So Miki is the most rural area of Japan I've seen so far, it
reminds me of Ulverstone, in but even less people on the streets and not
much of anything to look at, besides hills and mountains. I will get some
photo's some time. We live in a small apartment with the Miki 1 Elders, so
life is a party, .... I feel unconstrained now I have complete control over the
companionship. not that I like leading, I've figured out from last
transfer that I am a lot more comfortable just being told what to do...
We got brand new bikes, that was cool, .... I really am enjoying riding
it,....
You could search Miki city on google to see where I am, it
is just above Kobe. We have a branch of about 25, mostly old, youngest is maybe
20 something, but strong members. I aim to get those numbers up! The branch all
want to help us out, and were overjoyed to see 4 missionaries! We meet in an
old rented out office building on the first floor, but we actually have more
room than my first ward in Katsura, and it looks nice inside.
