I had another pretty good week this week. It wasn't quite so
full as the last, but we got to do some interesting things.
On Monday we went back to that guy we found the week before, ...... Before he was kind of like, 'I'm only kind of interested
in hearing a bit, I don't want to go to Church', but when we met him last
Monday he was super excited, and ended up being the most interested guy I have
met in a long time. He had looked up Mormons on wikipedia and reckoned our
beliefs were really similar to what he believes. He also set a date to come to
Church and in all honesty, Baptism didn't seem too far away. It is still a
little too early to tell, but after tonight we will know if we have managed to
find pure gold or not.
Tuesday we met our friend that owns a pub, at his pub, to
help him with English and a free lunch. He had his Mongolian friend over too,
who brought us presents of Japanese snack food. We are spoiled too often as missionaries!
It felt like we got a bit further with O., the older
lady, on Wednesday. We taught God a lot more powerfully and simply than before,
and the spirit was there, she was kind of quiet at the end of the lesson, and
asked for time to think. We met her again on Saturday, but she had put the
experience out of her mind and hadn't thought about it, but the seed was
planted. She is moving along ever so slowly, but she can no longer deny her own
faith!
On Thursday we went to the N.'s again, the LA mother and
non member daughter. It was a nice visit and we got to teach their class again.
Again I feel like perhaps my calling in life is to teach English to Japanese
people, this time it was a little 5 year old. We had story time and everything,
and he loved us.
On Saturday after our lesson with O., we were getting her
to take us to a LA member she knew (who's wife is an American), at his cafe,
when we were blocked by a massive crowd of people. There were security guards
everywhere too. We asked some of the people and they said that the Emperor's
son was visiting Kurashiki and going to stay in the hotel over there (a nice
traditional hotel which Elder Oaks stayed in on a visit to Japan one time). It
was exciting, so we decided to join the mob and in doing that made quite a few
friends, everyone was kind of interested why two white guys would even care
about the Emperor, and blown away that we could speak Japanese (I guess it was
a part of town used to seeing Tourists?). The prince or whatever he was finally
arrived after almost an hour and got rushed inside. We were thinking of a guy
dressed in all traditional Japanese clothes and a crown, what it was was a rush
of suits guarding a guy in a suit that looked no different than any other
Japanese person around him. .....Despite that, it was fun
though....
I think there are maybe 25 or so missionaries that finish
with me, there are like 11 from my group, 8 Japanese from the group before, and
6 or 7 sisters .....
