Missionary Moments

It was good to see all of your faces. I realised I could talk to you all for two years if they let me. It was hard to know what to talk about exactly, but probably the best thing was just experiencing you all in real time again. Made me feel a little trunky.

But of course if you feel trunky, you need to work harder. So this week we have been working pretty hard. It has been a good week again. We had the Christmas party on Tuesday, which was a lot of fun. I don't have photos on my camera. I asked an old lady to take some, as I was acting as Santas helper the whole time, but it ends up she didn't press the button properly. It was an awesome time though and lots of members and Less actives came. Unfortunately, only 1 of our investigators could make it.

The highlight of Wednesday was the skype. We had 3 people show up to Eikaiwa after that, which made it kind of a sad night. We canceled it this week because of new years. Hopefully it will increase a bit more next week when things go back to normal.

Thursday was the Christmas conference.....

Saturday and Sunday were kind of busy too. The ward has been even more nice and helpful lately. And of course throughout all these activities we have been teaching lessons and helping investigators. J., who we helped move house, has been progressing really well, and might get baptised before too long. We also have a 12 year old investigator who is the daughter of a less active we made friends with. We got the Mums permission to baptise her too, if that is what she wants, so things are looking really good there. I am not used to teaching 12 year olds, neither is my companion. I stepped in a few times during his bit of the teaching as I was trying to imagine teaching Katie all the stuff, and it wasn't working too well. We get so used to teaching adamant atheists that we don't know how to react to a child's faith and level of belief, or the little problems that kids have sometimes that adults don't. I feel like a stint in primary would prepare me better for that.

This could be another good week coming up too. Hopefully the successes don't stop.....

I forgot to mention that M. was baptised on Sunday. It was a super good experience for him and for us missionaries. He is the most repentant person I have seen baptised ever I think. His testimony at the meeting was super good. I wish everyone we met had that level of faith and commitment to God. The gospel is true, but to some people it is more than just truth, for M. it has become what he is dedicating his life too. I have learned a lot from his faith and how serious he takes the covenant that he has made. I hope we can all be like that!
