Eighteen

Today Jakob turned 18, so officially we have another adult in the house:) The time has gone by so quick since he was a new 6 pound 7 ounce baby. I always joke with him that he being our first was our experimental baby... and he survived! His comment to me the other night was that he turned out great, so obviously we raised him right:)
He didn't want to do anything amazing or exciting for his birthday, as I tried to make numerous suggestions. He was happy to just spend it at home with us and have family come over for tea.
So here's a little recap of his life thus far....

From a tiny new baby, so small that his new OOOO outfit was too big and the hat swam on his head.
To a real cutie, that could always win us over with his smile.
To a young boy who loved books and would spend allot of quiet time just reading to himself.
To a five year old with a thirst for knowledge. Always curious and always wanting everything explained to him.
To a very responsible 7 year old, already being the good older brother to four younger siblings.
To a 10 year old who knew what it was to be the oldest of six, and carry the weight of his siblings on his back.
To a 13 year old making an impression on his teachers in high school
To his first part time employment at 15 at KFC.
To a 16 year old receiving academic awards at the end of high school and voted 'most likely to succeed' by his peers.
To a handsome 18 year old, who is still doing well, being the responsible big brother and wanting to learn and understand.
So Happy Birthday Jakob, to one fantastic son......
With some of the cousins.
Please note that we had a photo of the girls and then if you look at the next photo Hallie decided that she also belonged in the boy's photo:)

And one of my favourite photos of tonight Flynn and Jakob. Big and little cousin together.

Wow 18 Jakob. You're an adult now! I'm excited to see where you go in life, you've got the world at your feet and will go far! If you're up for some world travel we'd love to have you come visit us! And maybe you could convince your Mum to come too ;-)
