Melbourne and getting Penny

Last Thursday until Saturday Jason and I had a getaway to Melbourne. Jason decided I needed and early birthday present and decided Melbourne was the place..... very thoughtful of him.

On Thursday Night he took me to see "Jersey Boys", the music was fantastic..... it was all about Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons and their rise to fame. I'd love tor recommend it to others to go and see..... but the language was terrible and there was allot of it. Which was a bit of a downer as it didn't say anything in the advertising about it. But if you ever get hold of a CD of their music you'll love it.

The rest of our time in Melbourne consisted of some retail therapy ....

At the Queen Victoria Markets...

And at a couple of the DFO's .... the new one in the city and the one at Morabbin..

We also went to the temple...

On the Saturday as we were leaving there was a wedding on and this is what was parked outside the temple waiting for the bride and groom...

Getting Penny
Monday I took off to Melbourne again this time for the day, ..... this was to meet the Binghams!!! We have been looking forward to their trip for so long and now they are here. I went to give Penny a hand as Chris is not able to come for another two weeks and she had quite a wait in Melbourne before the trip to Tassie.
She had just flown from Atlanta to LA and stayed overnight and then from LA to Melbourne which took about 15 hours. And she had done this with four kids 5 and under. So when I met her in Melbourne they were all a little tired and travel worn but good. Her kids had been really good for her and when I found her at the international terminal she had Baby Elliot in the pram, Sam her eldest pushing a luggage trolley, Ella and Owen trotting along behind and another luggage trolley being pushed by an airline employee. It was so great to see her and the kids.... its been so long since we've seen each other, so while we were tending the needs of the kids it was great to catch up with each other.
The lines at Jetstar were impossible and the staff not much help either. So while we had to wait around to check the bags in I took the three oldest for a walk while Penny had a break and got Elliot off to sleep.
After an ice cream at Maccas we found an arcade and Sam, Ella and Owen thought it was great...

All driving at once...

Sam driving and getting excited about seeing Oma and Pop...

Ella, Owen and Sam all driving together....

After a long trip for the Binghams and lots of waiting around and long lines we finally made it to Launceston about 5pm on Monday. It is going to be great having them here with us for 5 weeks...

the thing I look forward to the most at this time of year is seeing my sister and her family. You will have the best time with them all here.

Great post Tammy. We know what the long hauls are like with children and it's great the times there has been someone familiar at the other end. Oh, and that stretched Hummer out the front of the temple? We see far too many of those kind of monstrosities here around southern California. The Americans love 'em!
