Missionary Moments

..... we had service today at an old peoples home (it is Respect for The Elderly holiday in Japan) and it took a big chunk out of our P-day, taking some time after p-day right now to email.
This week has been pretty good,.....
.....I heard back from  Elder Gishwiller and  it sounds like he will be 2 or 3 weeks in the office and then back out into the field. It is unlikely they will send him back here, but I guess there is a chance.
This week was packed full of activities, it feels like. We did things like go to rock concerts, eat out a lot and teach investigators. My wallet is not in the best shape right now (due to the eating out mostly, and helping investigators with stuff), but I guess all those hours at KFC had to go towards something worthwhile. Anyway, because of resources like that, looks like we might see a baptism this transfer, the investigator who is a muscian is pleading with us to be able to join the Church right now, which is a nice change, but commandments can be hard for these people sometimes!
..... Todays service was fun. We (without practise) joined in on a youth activity where we drove out to an old peoples home and sang a lot with them. We 4 missionaries (sisters and us) did 'Nearer my God to Thee' in English and Japanese, which was fun, although could have been better with practise.
We went to Bishops last night and had dinner. It was really quite nice, the Sisters came too, and we were all able to enjoy it together. Lately it has been a lot easier to work more closely with the ward, which is really good in terms of missionary work, especially here in Japan where we have that natural language and culture barrier to get over first.....
My favourite foods? So Okonamiyaki, gyuudon, yakisoba, takoyaki (octopus dumplings), misou soup kare (Japanese 'curry'), ramen etc. In fact, just anything Japanese, but particualry those things. I can make most fairly easily, besides takoyaki, which I just buy at fast food places. Good thing is though is that takoyaki, yakisoba nad okonamiyaki pretty much all have the same flavour sauce stuff and the only difference is look and content......

This place (the restaurant) is dubbed 'The Dirty' by missionaries. It has grossly huge food portions at cheap prices, and the guy gave us that shaved ice for free (see picture of my companion below), he loves missionaries.

This is the rock concert. It was free along one of our walking routes, and an old man told us to go to make friends and we did

the sisters, when they stole my camera.
