Missionary moments

Another two weeks have flown past in Jakob's mission,... today he is giving his first talk in sacrament meeting in Japanese :) But more about that when we receive his email tomorrow...

Over the past two weeks he wrote....

It's been another busy week. I think every week for the next 21 months will be busy. ...
My rain coat is doing it's job. It has rained like maybe twice this week, so it hasn't been too bad. I did get soaked once, because I had it zipped open to show my tie, and water got all in it, so I was a bit uncomfortable. I didn't do that again.
We ate the nato like Wednesday night or there abouts.... it didn't taste that bad... it's just the look and consistency that make it sickening. So it appears to start off with as dried baked beans with like white mold around them. You get a packet of soy sauce stuff, drip it in then stick your chopstick in and mix... It goes all gluggy, like really really slimy and looks and smells like vomit. I ate about half and then tossed it. I could eat it if I had too, but not by choice.
The heat is just normal now. I am looking forward to winter, but the heat isn't really bothering me.....
Uh yeah, so we ate out a couple of times this week, which is good. Bento's are only like $4 here, so cheap, except I haven't found any sushi like at home, and the quality isn't quite as good. ......In the apartment we survive off of carrots, onions, peamen (capsicum) and small portions of meat, with rice or noodles... every meal...

My weeks are flying past at lightspeed I think. It feels like I had P-day only yesterday.
This week has been really hot, I thought it was hot before, but now I know this is hot. If it were any warmer my plastic buttons will melt and clothes might catch on fire. It got really muggy about the middle of the week, and then we had an awesome thunderstorm, the thunder was so loud our bikes were shaking as we were riding (nothing stops us from going out and working). It pelted down for a little and rained for a while after that. That cleared the air, but as such, the sun is beating down like in desert for the last couple of days......
I got my Weet-bix, I am so grateful for it! It arrived Thursday, and in the evening I sat myself down and made myself a bowl and just looked at it for a while. Probably the most homesick I've felt so far, but also it just made me happy after that. .....In our district we have one other Australian (they're still pretty rare here, maybe 5 of us in the whole mission?) and he was pretty excited about the Weet-Bix too.

On Sunday the Members must have been feeling more sympathetic to us, and our food basket was full up. One family asked me what I liked the week before and I had said 'Japanese food' and then they wanted to know what I liked back home, so I said cereal, cause I'm not sure how to say anything else besides spaghetti and Steak. So this week we got several packets of cereal, on top of a ton of fruit juice and snack food, and spaghetti (no steak). We bought extra milk today, so we can start to get through it (in addition to the Weet-bix) it's probably going to last us a while.
Language is going okay, all I really need to do now is use it. ......I also have a talk next Sunday, so need to find some time to prepare that too... I might entertain them with some English or something... It's on the Gospel of  Jesus Christ, so shouldn't be too hard....
