Missionary moments

Just a few bits from Jakob's letters over the past two weeks......

Last week he wrote

.......the Dear Elder is much appreciated. I went from getting nothing and the Americans saying how sorry they are for me to being the subject of envy as I read through my stack. Don't worry about it distracting me, I have plenty of time in the evenings to read through them. So, I have been living an exciting life. We've had a 70 talk with us, he was good, Gerald N. Lund (work and the glory author and former 70), his talk was amazing.......
.......It snowed last Tuesday when we went to the temple, was fine all week, and now it is Tuesday again and guess what? We had snow as we went to the temple, not like a blanket this time, but like fine hail that just soaked everything......
......I also want to add that I love you Mum and Dad for the life you've brought me up in. I only now begin to understand and appreciate your parenting skills and love. Thank you for who you are!!!......

This week he wrote....

I love receiving Dear Elders during the week, keep them coming!!! Also, if people want me to reply, write me your email address in the Dear Elder too, because letters cost a bit and take a long time to get back home...

......I'm not sure if I mentioned before, but last Sunday Vocal Point performed for us in the evening, and on Tuesday.... guess what!? Elder Richard G. Scott came to talk to us. I had a feeling and really pressed for Elder Mahler and I to line up early (Sunday and Tuesday night devotionals are like sold out movies). We got seats right behind the auto-cue (as I found out), and we could sort of read parts of the per-prepared bits of Elder Scott's talk. What was amazing though was that at the end he bestowed an apostolic blessing on all of us, and especially blessed us Missionaries that are learning another language. Apparently that's hasn't been done before in the memory of a lot of leaders here at the MTC.....
....I'm still amazed at the amount of people who don't know where Tasmania is, managed to convince some that it was an independent country, with a King......
