Home Again

This past week Jakob has been away at Maria Island for his grade 9 camp. About 40 students out of about 200 grade 9's went. He said he had a great time, the only really annoying thing was the Cape Barren Geese that snorted all night; he said they sounded like pigs and were everywhere.
They had a great time and did things like hiking to a place called 'Bishop and Clerk', that was a mountain on the island that had an excellent view from the top. Lots of sports and socialising and also a 30km hike. He said he had learnt you should never go for a swim on a hot day in the ocean and try to hike in wet shorts!!!

On Friday we were expecting him home about 4pm, but I got a text from Jakob and then a phone call from school saying that the boat had broken down and that they didn't know how they were going to get them back and it may even be Saturday. At 8pm on Friday night the principal from Queechy called to say that they were on their way home.

Jakob explained to us that they were going to get a few smaller boats to take them across but the water was so rough on Friday that it was too unsafe so they had to wait for the seas to calm and the boat to be repaired.

So when he got home he was very tired and there was a mountain of washing but he had a great time.... it was a great adventure.
