Missionary Moments - Elder Nathan Rowlings. Philippines Legazpi Mission

Trainers training was good. It's always good to catch up with other missionaries from the MTC, and hear about their experiences....
Legazpi is like a 1/2 hour train ride, or a ~40-60 minute Jeepney ride.
Teaching was good, finding was alright, I think we got 2 or 3 new investigators this week, which is alright, but at the moment our work is mostly focused on Less active, and Recent Converts, because we are about to become a stake here, and all the branches will become wards. The weather changes a fair bit, most days it rains, which makes it bearable, but sometimes it doesn't and it's well hot.
Tricycles cost 8 pesos, which is really affordable. because we take 2 to get to most of our areas, and 1 back. The MTC president said if you don't spend a heap of money on transport, you can afford ice cream everyday. (promised blessings, but more about don't go to far areas, when you can just cross the road from your apartment).
The Hymns are in English, Tagalog hymn books are a novelty, and the only place I’ve seen one and sung out of one is the MTC.
I always have little kids following me around, they talk to me, and tell me things, which most of the time, i have no idea what their saying.
There was one day I almost ran out of toilet paper, because I had a cold..... I realized, and I was like hey.... can we go to LCC (the shopping centre) to buy more tissue .... so I went and bought 2 huge rolls. The Filipino's make fun of me for using it. They think it's cleaner to use their hand. They don't like me buying it either, because they use their hand for their colds as well, well they stand over a sink and give their nose a good blow.
I prefer the Tassie weather, it's too hot, it's bearable when it's raining, but when it's not, I just "sweat bullets", as Elder T. would say at the MTC.
Anyway so this week was pretty good, with the trainers training and stuff..... Other then... I had 1500+ pesos left and I get 4000 more on Monday. So I bought a tub of ice-cream, the colour of it was Brown, Yellow, and purple. Brown being chocolate was alright, it tasted how you would expect. Purple flavour is ube, or ubi, which is purple yam, it's kind of a unique flavour, but it's not bad. and yellow as you would expect all things yellow to be, was cheese, or Keso. It tasted like ice-cream, without the vanilla flavour, and with lumps of mozzarella cheese in it. It tasted good to me, so long as the lumps of cheese were small.....
