The latest from Jakob... only a week now until he leaves the MTC in Provo to head to Kobe Japan...
So I'm emailing now, waiting for my Laundry to be finished.
35 minute wash and 35 dry cycles, so it takes a bit of time. We got up at
5:45am to get to the Laundry early....
We've been host missionaries for the last two weeks as a
district.... Hosting is can actually be a bit difficult, as you need to somehow detach missionaries from
their families as they're dropped off, within 5 minutes, to allow for the 700
others to also be dropped off....
I had one of the most exciting times of my life yesterday,
and definitely the highlight of my MTC stay. Us internationals got to do a half
day Salt Lake tour. That was awesome.
It started out with a bus tour with
commentary about Church history, and then we got a tour of the humanitarian
centre, we were able to do a half hour of service there too, which was fun. We
were packing school supplies.
Then we got to the centre of Salt Lake and went around the temple grounds. Which followed by a Family History building tour altogether, and then we split off into smaller groups and got taken on a tour up the church office buildings, both the conference centres, Salt Lake Temple grounds and most interestingly the Church History Museum. I got to see some original manuscript of the Book of Mormon, Joseph's death mask, and a legit Angel Moroni up close, plus numerous other things. Oh, and the Christus. We left at about 6:40am and came back about 1pm, so was a good half a day out of my normal routine.
Here is one photo from our Church tour yesterday, from inside the family history centre. These are all the international missionaries that are leaving the MTC in the next week or so. From Australia, NZ, pacific islanders, Brazil, Spain, Switzerland, Finland, Japan UK, etc. See if you can spot me! They really treat their internationals well.
