Floods

Yesterday we decided to head to the Basin for a quick look at the floods. Katie was the only one who wanted to come with Jason and I so she got to have us all to herself. The floods were amazing, I thought they were high two years ago when we had all that rain, but this time it was higher, the water was right up to the toilets under the cafe. The toilets were closed as was the inclinator and the suspension bridge, but the chair lift was doing a roaring trade and people were queued up to go on. Personally I think it would be a tad scary going across all that foaming, roaring water.

Here's Katie's version of "the water is so high, it's amazing!"

And it "it makes me so excited, I want to dance!"
This wood was sitting just outside the toilets, so it had been washed over the playground fence. You can see all the foam around it.

That's the path to the inclinator, I thought at one stage the water was going to take the "beware" sign away.

Can you imagine standing on the bridge, I was sure the water actually reached the bridge a few times.

These are just some of the waves the rushing force of the water was making as it hurtled through the gorge.
