Happy 65th Birthday Dad

Yesterday we got together as family in Ulverstone to celebrate Dad's 65th birthday, although the weather was terrible the company was great!

For Dad's birthday Penny had the idea that we collect stories from Dad's siblings and ourselves about Dad. Stories of the crazy things and mischievous things he's done in the past as a kid and adult. It was a bit of work getting it all together but well worth it.
It gave me time to reflect on Dad and my memories as well as enjoying everyone else's. Some of the things that his siblings shared made me laugh and let me see another side of dad that I didn't really know. While getting stories from my siblings was interesting to see how they viewed dad growing up and what they remembered that made them smile. I also included the first impressions of our spouses!
Along with this I also made a family collage just so dad could see us all at once...
Dad wearing two badges. My Aunt Willie couldn't find a 65 badge so she bought a 60 and a 5. Dad reckoned it made him look loke he was 605!

Oma gave all the kids bubbles to keep them entertained while we fininshed eating. I bet the neighbours wondered where all the bubbles were coming from!

Some of the grandkids trying to clap to 65 after we all sang happy birthday. They were getting a bit puffed out toward the end!

My brother Jason and his girlfriend Kaissa.

Thanks Tammy! Wish we could have been there on Saturday. Can you send me a copy of the book you gave Dad? I can't wait to read all the stories!
