The kitchen range hood

Well it has only taken since the end of April to get back to where I left off with the kitchen. I had been deliberately putting off the installation of the range hood flu due to the level of difficulty I perceived things to be regarding the mounting of the brackets at the ceiling level. I was thinking the cornice would have to be pulled off in order to mount the screws. I awoke early Thursday morning and whilst in that slumbering state my mind went over the activity and it came to me how to install the flu without pulling off the cornice. I forgot that I would be able to use the hole I cut out in the ceiling for the flu pipe and from within the roof fix the bracket to wall. I was about to share my thoughts with Tam and she went into her lets get help mode Jason doesn't know what he is doing! How's that for confidence in my building skills. I would not claim to be in possession of many skills in this area but I maintain the lack of appropriate tools is a large contributing factor - not an argument I will win with Tam due to the dollar$ we males can spend on tools!

It was nice to hear a well done from Tammy by lunch time Thursday. I was well pleased with my efforts but I don't fancy another crawl in the roof cavity any time soon. The space between trusses above the range hood only just permitted my torso in a horizontal position. I can still taste the spider webs now just accounting the adventure!

Only the pantry, floors and a coat of paint and I could probably say the project would be complete. I wonder if I will be done by Christmas? Another stimulu$ package Uncle Kev please!

well done Jason, it looks brilliant. Im always impressed with people who do handyman stuff themselves. We are moving into our house in Novemeber so I guess it starts then! Chelsea

looks pretty good to me too. Good on you for figuring it out yourself. When Matt built our fence all by himself he was so chuffed! Gave him a lot of confidence when the next thing came along too!!
